Courses Include:

Arthrokinematics and Muscle Firing Sequence – 3 credit hours

This course covers arthrokinematics and how correct muscle firing sequence can prevent injury and enhance fitness, including a general overview of the body, common movement patterns and typical problems seen with those movements. Instruction will be given on how to spot the incorrect muscle activation and provide helpful cues and additional exercises to help get your client back on track.

The Key to Understanding the Pelvis and Low Back – 6 credit hours

This course focuses on muscle co-contractions within the core, hip and pelvic regions and how those muscle interactions play a role in preventing and treating injury. By the end of the course students should be able to palpate key muscle groups, demonstrate exercises that target these areas and understand how to execute a proper exercise program for a client with a  low back or hip injury.

Understanding the Knee – 4 credit hours

This course completely focuses on the knee. It includes a comprehensive approach to understanding major and minor knee injuries, the best exercises to strengthen the knee and how to execute a proper workout program for clients already dealing with knee injuries.

Understanding the Shoulder – 4 credit hours

This course gives students a comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of the shoulder joint. Learn how to best strengthen the shoulder, while protecting the client from future pain and injury. Understand how proper scapulohumeral rhythm plays a key role in assisting and balancing shoulder movement.

Base of Support: Understanding the Lower Leg – 4 credit hours

This course breaks down the muscles of the lower leg, focusing on how a strong foundation can support the entire body. It also takes a deeper look at Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendinitis and how both of these issues can be prevented by a balanced workout program.

Posture: How To Gain Proper Spinal Alignment -  6 credit hours

This course focuses on the body as a whole. It takes an in depth look at the specific things clients need to do to achieve perfect posture. Incorrect posture can lead to significant dysfunction within the body including neck, low back pain and shoulder pain. Students should be able to demonstrate all stretches and exercises that help promote and establish correct spinal alignment.
